BQE Media unveils men's All-Postseason Basketball Squads

It was another highly competitive 2017-18 season on the local high school boys basketball scene. The South Shore Vikings rolled their way to a Brooklyn Borough Championship before earning the right to hoist a city title in Barclays Center in March after handling Queens-based Benjamin Cardozo High School in the finals.

The Vikings subsequently reached the Federation State AA Finals and lost to Archbishop Stepinac. Brooklyn Law and Tech cruised their way to its first ever A city championship, led by St. Francis Brooklyn Terrier to be, Larry Moreno. Moreno ended his senior season as one of the city’s leading scorers, averaging nearly 30 points and seven assists per game.

Moses Brown of Archbishop Molloy, who committed to UCLA during his senior season, earned CHSAA MVP honors. Molloy point guard, Cole Anthony, is a favorite to earn the prestigious award as a senior in 2018-19.

The future UCLA Bruin was named CHSAA League MVP after leading CHSAA in scoring and blocks.

• Jr. C Kofi Cockburn 6’11” (Christ the King)

The CTK big finished as the team’s leading scorer and rebounder en route to a trip to the CHSAA Championship game at Fordham University.

• Jr. G Cole Anthony 6’2” (Archbishop Molloy)

The First-Team CHSAA All-League honoree averaged 23.0 points, 7.8 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game as a junior.

• Fr. G Jaquan Carlos 6’1” (Thomas Jefferson)

This freshman led the entire Brooklyn AA Division in scoring with 20.4 points per game during the regular season and playoffs.

• Sr. G Larry Moreno 6’0” (Brooklyn Law and Tech)

The PSAL Wingate Award winner for basketball was a 2,000-point scorer over four varsity seasons and led Law and Tech to a PSAL A City title in 2018. He will play next year at St. Francis Brooklyn.


• Sr. F Khalid Moore 6’8” (Archbishop Molloy)

The third-highest scorer on very talented Molloy team will join Christ the King alum Jose Alvarado at Georgia Tech next season.

• Jr. F Julian Champangie 6’7” (Bishop Loughlin)

Champangie averaged 14.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks while earning All-CHSAA Third Team honors.

• Jr. F Justin Champangie 6’6” (Bishop Loughlin)

An average of 16.6 points and 6.9 rebounds earned him a spot on the All-CHSAA Second Team.

• Jr. SG Femi Odukale 6’4 (South Shore)

A highlight of the year was recording 18 points and six rebounds against Cardozo at Barclays Center in the PSAL AA Championship. He averaged 10.5 points per game in the regular season for top-ranked Vikings.

• Sr. PG Tyson Walker 5’10” (Christ the King)

The senior point guard, who led team in assists, helped drive King to the CHSAA Finals, where they lost to Archbishop Stepinac.
