One restaurant in particular that made headlines this year was Zum Stammtisch at 69-46 Myrtle Avenue in Glendale. The German restaurant has been hosting viewing parties for the German national team's matches, and they culminated Sunday afternoon with Deustchland taking home the World Cup.
Manager Johann Lehner said broadcasting the World Cup games has been “phenomenal” for business.
“Business has drastically increased, especially in the bar,” Lehner said.
Now that the World Cup has come to an end with a German victory, Lehner says his sights are high for the future.
“My next goal is to create an outdoor environment for guests,” he said. “The energy and the crow has been unbelievable. Throughout every game, the turnout increased more and more. The sport of soccer is on the rise in the United States and we expect an even larger crowd in the future.”
