Councilman Stephen Levin
Councilman Stephen Levin is presenting a host of ideas from the community on how to spend $1 million in taxpayer dollars.
For the constituents of his North Brooklyn district, what better way to spend a Wednesday evening than taking part in the selection process.
Residents living in Brooklyn Heights, DUMBO, Greenpoint, Boerum Hill and parts of Williamsburg and Bedford-Stuyvesant are invited to the Participatory Budgeting Project Expo of the 33rd Council District on Wednesday, March 19, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Borough Hall, located at 209 Joralemon St., to learn about the proposals for the district.
“I encourage everyone in the 33rd District to come out to this year’s expo and get to know this year’s proposals to improve our parks, schools, streets and more,” Levin said.
Last fall, volunteer committees began reviewing dozens of suggestions from the community and developed formal proposals, all of which will be presented at the expo next week.
Voting on the projects is scheduled to take place from March 30 to April 6.
“Together, we set a national, inaugural year record for number of participatory budgeting votes last year, and we expect an even greater turnout this year,” Levin said. “I’m excited about this year’s projects and look forward to unveiling them at this year’s Expo.”
