celebrated its grand reopening this past weekend after a fire tore through establishment last spring.

Owner George Lagos explained what it was like to have his family business at 58-02 Myrtle Avenue nearly destroyed.

“The fire started in a wall and was discovered by an early morning prep cook,” said owner George Lagos. “They called FDNY and that’s when the whole thing went up in smoke. That early morning phone call on April 18 felt like a goat kick to the head.”

The restoration process was long and tedious according to Lagos, but said the support of the community helped morale.

“I had to redesign and reconstruct the entire restaurant,” he said.

At a recent riobon-cutting ceremony, all of the hard work was evident. Excited customers, as well as Councilman Antonio Renoso and Assemblyman Mike Miller attended, and after the ceremony, kids were treated to face painting, balloons, and popcorn.

Lagos expressed his gratitude to friends and family for their support, and assured customers that despite some aesthetic changes and upgrades they “still have the same great staff, same hours, and probably one of the fastest breakfasts served in Queens.”
