Women’s soccer faces Lehigh on Thursday at home at 7 pm and visits Harvard on Sunday.
Captain Brandon Knapp (Abingdon, Md.) had a goal and a pair of assists as men’s soccer collected their first win of the season in their home-opener against UAlbany on Monday night. Graduate transfer Lucas Bartlett (Overland Park, Kan.) scored late in the opening half and Wesley Leggett (Lawrence, NJ) added a tally early in the second to give SJU A 3-0 win. Leggett, a junior transfer from UConn, has scored four times in just nine career games with St. John’s.
Last week, Senior Anthony Herbert (Brooklyn) scored on a ball placed perfectly in the box by Einar Lye (Norway) to give the Red Storm an early 1-0 lead over nationally-ranked Clemson. St. John’s threatened Clemson’s 25-game home winning streak until the Tigers answered back with a goal in the 66th minute and one in the 77th minute. St. John’s earned a lucky break when Clemson was dealt a red card in the 85th minute, but the score held.
