Dear Editor,

Mr. Thomas Knapp is wrong about the Coronavirus being "neither a national emergency or a public health crisis in the United States" in his recent op-ed for this paper.

COVID-19 has reached every continent except Antarctica. The U.S. must ban all global travel.

If the Federal Aviation Administration doesn't have such power, Congress must grant it. Travel and tourism industries will suffer short-term pain, but the health and safety of all Americans outweighs profits.

The Coronavirus outbreak reveals globalization's dark side. A connected world is an infected world where deadly diseases spread like wildfire. Isolation is the key

to preservation.

The U.S. must become a self-sufficient, self-sustaining nation, just like we were for nearly four decades following the end of World War II.
