Dear Editor,

As a customer of Queens County Savings Bank's branch at 75-44 Main Street in Kew Gardens Hills for nearly 52 years, I'm shocked to discover that the bank has closed it doors to most of its regular depositors for the foreseeable future.

I learned this when I tried to make a withdrawal on March 30, and was told the bank has closed its main lobby and will only conduct transactions at the drive-thru window to customers in cars or via an ATM.

This discriminates against many seniors like me and others who don't drive or have ATM, debit or credit cards. How can people like me buy food and medications if we can't access funds at our bank.

Capital One at 75-21 Main Street maintains regular service for walk-in clients during the crisis. Why does one bank respect customers while another throws them under a bus? It's literally a matter of life & death.

Sincerely,

Richard Reif
